Don's four B.A.C. Drones about 1938, the one one the left had
a Bristol "Cherub" engine and the other three Douglas engines, all
where twin cylinder flat air cooled. Don would buy insurance write-off and then
rebuild them, he became very skilled at this but with the war looming potential customers
quickly disappeared. He camouflaged sprayed and added roundels to one of Douglas
drones and restarted flying about 1943, but
someone reported him. Wing Commander Cecil Wright came to see Dad, he made a few
comments about Dads B.A.C. Drone being a nice machine to fly, Dad suggested he
came out for a flight when the weather was fine, he agreed, but he never did.
