The empty vault like mass of the old power station had a strange fascination for me. Something like a location for a "Dr Who" episode - there being Cybermen inside and "something" in that pipe to the sea!
Especially when the wind blew around it - and the lamps on the jetty still came on at dusk.
It had its own spur off the railway line so as to have the option of its coal being delivered by rail, or by sea via the large jetty.
