In the 1930 Virginia Census record for Lipps Township, John Edeard Dixon was listed as the head of household and was living with his wife Sallie and his five children. John was listed as a 55 year old married male that married for the first time at age 35. The Census record not only tells us that John was born in TN, but that his parents were born in TN as well. His occupation was listed as a coal miner who could read and write and the record did indicate that John could read and write.

His wife Sallie was listed as 39 years old in 1930; age 19 at the time of her first marriage. The numbers would indicate that John and Sallie were both involved in their first marriage to one another. Sallie is listed as being born in GA along with that of her parents also. Sallie was a housewife (who could read and write).

Their children were listed as follosw, Loretta 15 born in Ga; Alma 10 born in Va; Ray 5 born in Va; Roy 3 born in Va; and Joe 1 also born in Va.

Joe Donald Dixon

Joe Donald was the name given to the seventh child of John Edward and Sallie Mae Dixon. Joe was born 14 May 1929 at Coeburn, Wise county, Virginia. Joe worked for continental Can Company, was a veteran of four years in the U. S. Army and attended the Baptist Church. Joe married Geraldine "Gerry" Bolling on 22 February 1947 at Whitesburg, Letcher County, Kentucky. Gerry was born 16 April 1930 at George's Fork, Dickenson County, Virginia to William Edward Bolling and Cora Edith Stanley.

Gerry and Joe Dixon's first child was a son, Donald Edward, born 10 December 1947 at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland. Donald Edward is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University. Donald died 4 September 1989 at Manassas and was buried on 7 September 1989 at Stonewall Memorial Gardens at Manassas, Prince Williams County, Virginia. Gerry and Joe Dixon's second child is a daughter, Patricia Aleda, born 30 November 1948 at Clintwood, Wise County, Virginia. On 8 June 1968, she married Earl Warren Allue at Haymarket, Prince William County, Virginia. Eugene was born 13 July 1947 at Denver, "Adams County, Colorado to Eugene Anthony Allue and the former Margaret Sperry. Eugene is a builder and aviator, a member of the U.S. Army National Guard where he is a major and attends the Baptist Church with his family. He and Patricia A. (Dixon) have two sons, Eugene Warren II, born 17 February 1973 and Michael Jon, born 14 August 1977, both at Manassas, Prince Williams County, Virginia. Michael Carl Dixon is the third child of Joe and Gerry Dixon, born 30 August 1950 at Manassas, Prince Williams County, Virginia. Michael is an attorney and is a graduate of Richmond University and Samford University School of Law. On 4 August 1973, he married Alison Virginia Smith at Manassas, Virginia. Alison was born 21 September 1951 at Alexandria, Virginia to H. Selwyn Smith and the former Virginia Busk. Alison is a teacher and interior decorator. She, Mike and their family attend the Methodist Church. They have two children; Kimberly Alison, born 12 September 1978 in Fairfax, Virginia and Kevin Michael, born 28 January 1980 in Manassas, Virginia. (131)


Joe Donald Dixon died of cancer 4 September 1988 at Baltimore, Baltimore County, Maryland and on 7 September 1988, he was buried there.
