Stanley Cem/Clintwood Va..Roy & Hazel../Peggy-Warren- & Debs grave
I will try to help you find the grave of your sister. I was raised in the Clintwood
area and so were my parents. Since it is a small community, my mother may
have know your grandmother Alma. In fact as a small child I remember visiting
Roy and Hazel Dixon and their children (Doug, Ronnie & Melanie) who lived on
Longs Fork (near Clintwood). I wonder if Roy and Alma were siblings. Also, I
remember Ray Dixon. His daughter Connie still lives in the Longs Fork area.
She was probably born about 1953/54, so she might know the cemetery
where your sister is buried if this group of Dixon's are connected.
Also, I do a lot of Stanley genealogy and there is a Stanley cemetery located
on a hill between the Longs Fork Elementary School and the AEP buildings. I
would suspect this is the cemetery in question. However, if your sister did not
have a permanent marker, then it would be difficult to discern her grave.
Perhaps your best chance of locating the grave is to find a relative who
attended the funeral and remembers where the grave is located.
Where do you live? I go to Clintwood at least once a month to visit my Mom
who lives near Longs Fork. We could plan to meet and I will take you to the
Stanley cemetery on Longs Fork if that's not too far for you to travel.
Hi,
Here's more info regarding you sister Debbie and burial location. This info was
provided to me by my Mother.
"The Alma you are asking about was the daughter of Rev. J. E. and Sally Mae
Taylor-Dixon. Their daughter's name was Peggy, who married a Daily and the
granddaughter was Debbie. Debbie died very young and is buried in the
Stanley Cemetery at Longs Fork, along with her grandparents, mother and
uncle Ray. I called and talked to Roy and Hazel. Alma and Roy were siblings."
I hope this will help you. If you need my help again, please contact me.
