Uncle Les and Aunt Ercel

The fourth child of John Edward and Sallie Dixon is a daughter, Ercel Aleda, born 16 August 1922 at Wise, Wise County, Virginia. Ercel married Leslie Vernon Ellis 28 May 1938 at Clintwood, Dickenson County, Virginia.

Leslie was a coal miner in Coeburn, Virginia and Jenkins, Kentucky. He was the son of Hugh Ellis and Lila Pack. Leslie and Ercel had one daughter, Sallie Elizabeth, born 10 November 1950 at Jenkins, Letcher County, Kentucky. On 14 December 1971,

Sallie married Ben Bentley at Clintwood, Virginia. Ben was born 9 November 1947 in Jenkins, Kentucky to Lester Bentley and Joey Crase. Sallie and Ben have two children: Bryan S., born 10 January 1973 and Dana L., born 24 March 1975, both in Wise, Wise County, Virginia. Leslie Vernon Ellis died 20 July 1976 at Whitesburg, Letcher County, Kentucky and was buried a few days later at Ermine, Letcher County, Kentucky.

Ercel passed away in May of 2001 and is laid to rest beside her husband Les.
